Yes. I love Batman. But the title of the post is still quite relevant!
Ancient societies left much for us to figure out. Art, writing, cities, and thousands of mysteries. Scientists, historians, and archaeologists study these things and discern knowledge from them about these ancient societies.
And yet, how could we really know what these things meant to these ancient peoples? We ourselves as a society have created thousands of "not serious" works. TV, movies, books, art, etc are related to humor and entertainment. Our use of sarcasm is widespread, so much so that there are books that read as serious but we know they are joking, because of our context in our society. Would a scientist in a thousand years understand that this is humor, or would he think we believed every word?
History has recognized that ancient cultures did at times express humor, but what I am questioning is how we could possibly know what is humor and what is serious? Question everything. Do not take anything you are told for granted. Develop your own opinion rather than blindly following the thoughts and ideas of others.
Allow for the concept that ancient cultures were possibly more advanced than ours. We cannot say what they were thinking, or even whether they decided what to destroy or leave for us to find. It is always assumed that past cultures lack our intelligence and technology, but who are we to assume such things? Comprehension of past cultures is never completely possible, because we did not live back then, speak the language, or see what actually happened. No one person alive today can authentically verify events happening more than 100 miles from their given location at any moment, or more than a lifetime beyond their own. I sit here today, and I cannot say for sure that past events actually occured because I, myself, was not there. We tend to trust history and the media and the records of our past and what we are told, but only a fool trusts what he is told over what he sees or does not see.
By first hand accounts of the people who were there, I know some of the events of WWII to be true, however I cannot say with certainty that what we believed happened in our Civil War is true, because I know no one who was alive at that time (of course). Going even farther back leads to even deeper speculation, we simply cannot say how much of our "knowledge" is really based in fact.

The Universal Timekeeper
People look to the stars and think of them as a random arrangement of balls of gas. Beings in other parts of the galaxy may look upon our star the same way.
The truth is that everything in the universe is in a specific place and moves in a specific way to indicate some specific thing. (yeah its specific all right.)
Where do you think we imagined the idea of the clock from? Random guess? The clock is a design inspired by a deep knowledge of the nature of existence. The very thing that enables existence is spin. It is that motion - even in its tiniest form that sparks and sustains life.
Example - picture a skilled person working a hula hoop. Now imagine the hoop is the string in string theory - the string being the smallest component of matter. Imagine the person is invisible, immeasurable. What do you have? A mysteriously spinning hoop so small you can't see it, you can barely measure it and theorize that it exists. This is the foundation of life. It is light.
From this tiny, spinning base of life to the great spin of the universe itself, all of existence is based on spin and spiral. So, a clock is merely a reflection of this and an affirmation of the way the universe moves. It spins on an invisible, immeasurable axis we call God.
So, what are the stars, planets and other bodies in the universe? They are the numbers on the clock. They are the calendar. The great place in which our history and future is recorded. The position of each star at any given second is tied to an event in the universe and on earth. We have only a rudimentary understanding of this now.
The ancient peoples knew this truth of the universe and were easily able to read and understand it. They lived their lives by it, recognized coming events by it, even planned wars and major moves around it.
Today we can barely see the light of our universal clock, thanks to the brilliant lights of cities and modern civilization. Our society clouds our vision of this just as it clouds everything else...

Today is the First Day...
Today is the First Day of the Rest of Your Life
This is a saying I once laughed at. I used to think it was obvious and silly, yet here I am pondering it.
The message in this simple saying has several facets. the first, and most obvious, is that no matter what happened yesterday, today is a new day and your life is still ahead of you.
The second is that what you do today sets a course, a stage, for all the days that follow. In the coming days everything is flavored by what happens today.
The third, and in my case the most important, is: What are you waiting for? Today, in this moment, right now, you have the power to change the course of your life. So,
What are you waiting for?

Overpopulation
I made a previous post about the "expected" path we have in life and how most humans blindly follow this path simply because they don't know any other way of life. They merely follow example, or worse yet hit some of the steps by accident (accidental pregnancy, for example).
This creates a massive problem because the very life path that we expect we should follow is dangerous both to us and to the planet itself. The damage to the Earth increases exponentially with increases in human life upon the planet. Our population is expanding by about four million per year, our death rates are falling due to medical advances, and soon humans will cover the surface of the Earth like a flood. We do not have the natural resources to maintain such a population, we don't even have the space. Yet, millions upon millions of families have baby after baby after baby. Ideally, each couple should have two children. One to replace the mother and one to replace the father.
I have always been astonished by people who continuously have one child after another, as if they don't know how to stop breeding. This is, however, the first time I've thought of it in the context of the planet in general. Why are we running out of oil and other precious natural resources? Because the more people there are using the resources, the faster they run out. There are housing developments for which acres upon acres of forest is leveled, and upon which rows of 4-5 bedroom houses sit dangerously close to one another. When viewed afar these "fields" of homes look very much like a graveyard full of tombstones. These homes cost more than the families living in them can afford. The homes are often larger than these families need, but because they aquire so much stuff - thats the American way - they need ever larger homes.
Our expansion is three-fold - more humans, each with a bigger footprint than the last, each using greater resources than the last. So even though the actual number of additional humans per year is 4 million, its really about the impact of 12 million because every year each human takes up more and more space and resources. We use more, we consume more, we eat more, we want more we buy more.
What is the American dream? More, more, more.
Well, aparently nature has grown tired of us. We have an infertility epidemic, and science has found it may be linked to evolution in male reproduction. The short story is, men have evolved sperm that are so effective at penetrating a woman's defenses that multiple sperm join the egg and prevent conception in doing so. Of course, we should just let it go and if we can't have children naturally then we should not have children. No, these people have a God-given right to bear children and infect the world with even more people, so we artificially inseminate the egg in a petri dish and stick it in the mother's womb. Our infertility - battling techniques have cause an epidemic of multiple births. Families who wanted one baby suddenly find themselves with two, or three, or five, or ten.
I, for one, am stepping out of this race. I have no desire to bear children, and I refuse to let people make me feel like something is wrong with me because of it. I believe there are many, many others out there who feel just as I do but because of society and spousal pressure, they are going to have children anyway. I almost did, in an attempt to make someone else happy.
I am incredibly thankful that I was forced off of that path before I made a huge mistake.
Please, reconsider what you really want before you try to have children. Put deep, serious thought into WHY you want children and make damn sure your spouse really does want them too, and find out why THEY want children.
We all must consider our every act more deeply. Think about the impact it will have on you, on others, on the world. Don't just do things blindly. Don't be a sheep. You are not a cow in a farmer's field who is breed, fed, and slaughtered by outside forces. It is your life and you have to take control and take the reigns of personal responsibility for yourself. You are the only person responsible for your actions, and to lay blame on others is to give up your life to them. Take control of yourself, and you help change the world.

Good vs. Evil
Outside of this realm, there is no good or evil, there is only the single emanating force upon which existance hangs.
The concept of evil is purely human, and is used liberally to describe things we fear or are painful. The fact is, events have been set in place and will progress as was written in the stars. The concept of evil is unrealistic, because the "bad" that happens in our lives is just as important and necessary as the "good". And isn't being necessary a characteristic of something that is... good?
The only cosmic bad is holding oneself back from ascension, and that does not really even class as "bad" its just a lack of progress. The main problem with holding oneself back is that it holds us all back, as we all must advance together. Fear is irrelevant, becasue what will happen will happen, and fearing it only holds you back from accepting and preparing for it.
An analogy will better describe what I am trying to explain. Let us say that you are a car. And, if you move forward it is "good" and if you move backward it is "evil" but in reality, evil (backward) does not actually exist. So that means what you perceive to be backward movement is really only slower forward movement. Sure, when you're in third gear it may seem all is good and light because you're moving forward at a good pace, but then you drop down to second and then first gear, and even though you are still moving forward and still in the light, you feel less forward progress and it feels "bad". No one likes to feel like all the other cars are passing them, but there are times in life when you have to slow down and take care of other things before you can get back up to speed.
This analogy fits quite well with the descriptions of yin and yang, as Yin (dark, feminine) is considered passive energy and deep darkness, while Yang (light, masculine) is considered active energy and vibrant bright light. Neither is GOOD or BAD they just ARE. And one without the other could not exist.
Our destiny was written by us, so the choices are still ours. The difference is we have already made the choice and now we are walking through the path we chose.
The univers is like a great spinning clock. Time waits for no one, in fact, it does not exist. Everything is happening now, it is only the mind (the collective unconcious) that puts it in an order we can understand.
Life is an instantaneous series of actions and reactions. We are standing at the pond planning it and simultaneously we are in the pool living it.
Separation is an illusion. There is no separation, no time, no good, no evil. There is just one, one power, one energy, one life.
So you see, the concept of evil was set forth to give man an explanation for the pain of life and the dark side of the wheel of karma (or yin). It is merely action and reaction, there is only light or absense of light. Darkness is an illusion caused by blindness to light.

The American Dream
Recent experiences in my life (in conjunction with my Saturn's Return) have lead me to wonder deeply why we all follow a standard life pattern like sheep?
We are taught from a young age that we are supposed to go to school, go to college, get the highest possible paying job whether we love it or not, find someone to love, move in with them, get married (not necessarily in that order), and then have kids with them.
Then, if we somehow manage to hold the marriage together until the kids are grown, we wind up with feelings of emptiness, often realize we no longer want to be around our spouse, and have no idea what we are going to do with the rest of our lives. If we're lucky, our kids will soon have their own kids and we can throw ourselves into our grandkids, because its all we have left to put hope into.
What is this? Its the American Dream. Its the program of hundreds of years of progress. Its who we think we are supposed to be, because the TV, our parents, and society tells us so. Why then, are so many of us so terribly unhappy with the very things that were supposed to make us happy?
We are living someone else's dream, not our own.
Every day we go about our lives seeking goals that society has told us we should seek. These are not necessarily things we want for ourselves, even though years of teaching has told us we should. I don't want money. I don't want a large house or an expensive car. I don't want kids, I don't want to be married, and I don't want to live the American dream. None of these things matter to me, all that matters to me is art, spirituality, finding the joy in little things, volunteering, giving, helping others, making the world a better place.
Millions of people push harder and faster every single day to try to achieve something they don't really want. They are grasping at a ghost, and they are driving themselves insane chasing it. The end result is that everyone is unhappy, stressed out, pressed for time, and unfulfilled.
Maybe its time to take a step back and think about what you really want from life. Think about what would really make you happy. Then, cast off doubts and fear and go after it.
An it harm none, do what thou wilt.

Time
Everyone has their own view of time and what it is. One of our oldest methods of keeping time is a perfect example to show you an image that perfectly depicts the true nature of time.
Most of us know what an hourglass is. Many have seen and possibly used one in our lifetimes. Some board games come with them. They are said to have been invented around the middle of the third century, but there is no real record of them until around 1350. Ancient cultures have created art using hourglass imagery and shapes that closely resemble the hourglass, so it would seem the concept existed long before its first appearance in recorded history.
The hourglass has a deep symbology. Its very design describes the nature of time. The first hint is that the time represented by the hourglass is cyclical. It has to be flipped in order to continue counting time. Many have come to believe that our existance is cyclical as well, such as the belief that the universe will eventually collapse upon itself and be reborn just as it was before. Our seasons, our rotation around the sun, the moon's rotation around the Earth, the gentle spiral of the galaxy and of the universe itself are all clues to the cyclic nature of existance. It only makes sense that time itself is also cyclic.
The second hint that the hourglass image provides is about the past, present and future. The bottom of the hourglass fills with sand, each grain representing a moment in history. The futher we march through time, the more history is in the bottom of the glass. The singular grains pouring through the waist of the glass represent the here and now, and just how fleeting it really is. At the top is the well of time from which we draw every moment. This symbology is one of my more important points for you today. Here is another analogy: Not having drunk the water in the jug does not mean it does not exist. It only means you have not drunk it yet.
The future already exists. The time we have not yet experienced is waiting for us in the top of the hourglass. It is there, and from our place in its center we can almost touch it, almost see it. It is there, and we know it, but we are stuck in the present so we cannot clearly see it. It is human nature to doubt something you cannot see and touch for yourself. It is what makes faith and belief such abstract concepts for us.
The hourglass also shows us another type of symbology. Its very shape, that of two triangles pointing towards each other bears many deeper meanings. This shape is the basis of the spiral, which is another important symbol regarding our universe. This shape is also an illustration of the concept of zero point. And, it represents the crossing of two dimensional timelines. We use the hourglass to describe the 'ideal' feminine figure. It also demonstrates the wiccan concept of "as above, so below". The two triangles are pushed together to form the star of David. The hourglass still stares back at us every day, or at least any time our computer is busy processing.
And then, there is the optimist/pessimist description of the glass of water. The age-old question. Is your life half over, or only half begun? The hourglass begs this question just as well as the glass of water, yet another way in which it proves this symbol is ingrained in our lives in far greater ways than we had imagined.
I have a feeling I will be painting this symbol over and over, sometimes not even realizing that its what I'm painting until I'm done and step back to look at my creation. It is among a group of symbols that represent universal truths which none of us can deny. The sight of such a symbol triggers something in the back of our minds, inspires us, draws us, changes us. Perhaps if we continue examining symbols like these we can bring about great changes in mankind.

The Placebo Effect: Sign of Awakening
I was stunned today to read an article which described the struggle of pharmaceutical companies fighting the growing Placebo Effect.
The Placebo Effect refers to a measurement of how large the percentage of people in a placebo group of a pharmaceutical trial show improvement, as if they were on the real drug and not a sugar milk pill. This effect has long been under study, and results have shown the Placebo Effect has doubled in size since the 1980's.
This is wonderful news! (for mankind, but not the drug companies) Our impending awakening has brought about many changes in humans in the last few decades, and this is among the more astonishing and - more importantly - well documented phenomena!
Here we have documented proof that the human body has begun to respond more and more to the idea of healing - and in doing so is healing itself. We are unlocking our potential to heal ourselves with nothing more than the belief that we should be healed.

The Placebo Effect refers to a measurement of how large the percentage of people in a placebo group of a pharmaceutical trial show improvement, as if they were on the real drug and not a sugar milk pill. This effect has long been under study, and results have shown the Placebo Effect has doubled in size since the 1980's.
This is wonderful news! (for mankind, but not the drug companies) Our impending awakening has brought about many changes in humans in the last few decades, and this is among the more astonishing and - more importantly - well documented phenomena!
Here we have documented proof that the human body has begun to respond more and more to the idea of healing - and in doing so is healing itself. We are unlocking our potential to heal ourselves with nothing more than the belief that we should be healed.

The Bible
It never ceases to amaze me how so many have read this awesome book yet so few have grasped any of its true message.
The Bible is a guide. A manual to life and ascention here on Earth. With in its pages* are the sum total of knowledge that we require to achieve our ultimate goal. One aside to this - there are other books which should have been added to the Bible but were not, because they threaten the very power of the largest of churches. When I refer to the Bible, I am referring to the entirety of it, not just what is sold in your local Christian bookstore.
I had been having thoughts and visions about a ladder, a spiral path, and the chakras, and notating them in my journal as I went. Some of these ideas I found in other seekers, and others seemed to come from within. Nonetheless, I have come to the conclusion that our DNA and the spiral path of the Chakras are in some way one and the same. They are linked, twins, a reflection of each other. Another thought came to me the other day on this subject - ever since I was a child, metal spiral ladders have facinated me. I've always loved their form and felt drawn to climb them. They are a strange, simple thing that has a pull for me. I am realizing that this pull is because I recognized them and realized that they are a reflection of something else...
As I'm pondering the concept of the spiral ladder and ladder of the chakras, as both are the same and a path to enlightenment, a certain thought repeatedly poked its way into my mind. I could not stop thinking that the spiral ladder of the chakras was Jacob's ladder. The interesting part - I had heard of Jacob's ladder and knew it to be a biblical story, but I did not know the story itself. I had never read about the subject, only heard it in passing. When this thought repeatedly announced itself to me, I finally decided to look up what Jacob's ladder was.
You can imagine my astonishment when I learned that Jacob had a vision of a ladder, which reached from Earth to Heaven, and upon which he saw angels ascending and descending. I even saw that someone else had already interpreted this vision as referring to a ladder within us that we must climb to reach enlightenment/heaven/nirvana. This resonated with me and it reinforced that my mental meanderings on the subject were spot on.
This is just one instance where the Bible hands us the keys and waits for us to put them into the lock and open the door. Our mind is as a hallway full of locked doors, millions upon millions of locked doors. These doors are the fabric of the veil that blocks us from seeing who and what we really are. As we unlock each door, we tear a hole in this fabric and we come closer to enlightenment and to Heaven. We climb another step on the spiral ladder, we begin to open a new chakra that we did not previously know that we had. The keys are out there. Many are in the Bible itself, others in works which have sprung spontaneously into the mind of the writer, from whence he knows not. I am one such writer. I am compelled to sit and write but I do not know what I am going to write before I see it on the page.
Continue seeking, loved ones, you will find the keys and together we will tear back the veil.

Religious Branches on the Tree of Spirituality
For millenia, man has struggled with the concept of God.
We have believed or not believed, we have assigned God a sexual polarity, we have addressed God as many gods, we have carried out wars in the name of a God whose face we do not understand. Mankind seems to have no idea who/what/where God really is.
In our struggle to understand this immense and mind boggling concept, we created religions. Ridgid, structured methods to worship a being in manners that make sense to us in some way. The problem with religion is that it limits God. It creates a narrow minded view of just a fragment of the grandure of the whole entity. To immerse yourself in a religion is to become a horse with blinders. You can only see the path that others set before you, and there is so much beauty around you that you will never see. Religion is a prison for the spirit, albiet one which many people really do need.
Many people have not yet attained the inner strength and vision to proceed along a path of spirituality without the guides, restrictions and laws of religion. They do not have a finely tuned moral compass that will keep them straight and steady, keep them from causing undue harm to the world around them. The sad part is most people who follow a religion still do harm to the world around them, imagine how much harm they could cause if they didn't have the religious laws that they "should" be following?
I am going off on a tangent again. The point is that religion is necessary for most people at this time. A day is coming when it will no longer be necessary, as most of mankind will simply know the truth and will no longer need to seek it in false prophets and priest's robes. Then all of us shall be priests and priestesses, we shall follow the one true path, the spiral ladder to heaven.
Until that time, there will be a division. A division of man and of religion. Those who are ready to see the spiral ladder for what it is will climb it, and as they do, they will be more and more able to see the blinders on the people around them. It is a disturbing sight, to see the people around you, who you love, mindlessly roaming through life without purpose or direction or knowledge of the beautiful beings they really are.
So long as man wears the blinders, he will not be able to recognize the truth of religion. There is a singular truth of this Earth, the Universe, and God. This truth was fractured, and artificially made separate. These fractured pieces were handed out to the many religions of the Earth, so that each would have a small piece of truth. To the trained eye this small piece of truth glows brilliantly within the boundaries of the religion, and one who seeks truth will explore that religion until that piece of truth is found and resonates within them. They will then look to another religion, see the glowing piece of truth within it and seek it out. Through this, the seeker will recognize that they are not OF the religion, merely a student of the truth that it contains.
As the seeker retrieves more and more pieces of the truth, they begin to realize that the truth was never fractured at all. Each piece is still attached to all of the others, they are still intertwined in mystical ways. The Kam-Pa which flows through all things is the link, the thin gossamer thread, the net which holds this universe together. It is the pathway upon which truth flows, upon which light flows, and upon which vibrations flow. You can walk the path of Kam-Pa. You can follow where it leads. When you do, you will find more things are connected than you realized before. You begin to see the connection, the similarities, the imagery that humans have been envisioning for thousands of years. We see it all, in our minds eye, every day. The clues are there we need only unravel them. To do so brings enlightenment. When all of the pieces of truth are uncovered, one learns that they were within all along, and seeing them in other places was only because the seeker was looking into a mirror that showed them a piece of their own true nature.
There is only one. There was only ever one. All is one, this is truth. As you journey along the path, you will realize and understand more and more that while the universe has many forms, all forms are complex weavings of the same base energy. This base energy is the one pure truth of the universe. It is waiting for you to uncover it, as soon as you are ready.
